Movies, movies, movies...!

Well, now that Christmas is over (and what a Christmas it was! The sun was shining, we sat around the pool and ate FAR too much!), it's time to settle into the holiday routine - yay! Finally! I haven't had a holiday all year, so I'm really looking forward to this one :) I've been stockpiling my summer reading for the past few months, and am really enjoying having time to do some (at last!).

I'm currently reading Sandra Brown's "Envy" and really enjoying it too. Next on the list is harder to choose...I have so many to choose from! For now I think I'll just enjoy this book and do an "eeny meeny miney mo" thing to choose the next one :)

Hubby and I have been lucky enough to farm out the kids to both my parents and my mother in law twice this past week, so we can catch a movie. Can't actually remember the last one we'd been to together (without the kids - we took them to "Cars" and "Happy Feet" in recent years), so it's been great!

First up we saw the new James Bond flick, "Quantum of Solace", with Daniel Craig as 007.

Must say, I am abit partial to Mr Craig in his 007 role...second only to Sean Connery, of course. He'll always be Number 1 in my book! But the latest JB movie is definately a goodie - non stop action from go to whoa - a must-see!

Next up was the intriguing-sounding "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button".

I knew very little about the movie prior to going, save that it starred Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett and that it was based on F. Scott Fitzgerald's short story of 1921. I just love movies that have an original premise - one that hasn't been rehashed a million times already - and this movie fits that bill entirely. It left us both very pensive afterwards - the movie was well-done and beautifully acted and shot (the sets and scenery were fantastic!). Brad and Cate were amazing, particularly since the storyline was so unusual (a man is born as an 85 year old baby and grows younger as each year passes). The struggle of the two leading characters of Benjamin and Daisy, the love of his life, trying to stay together as one is growing older whilst the other is growing younger, is riveting. The film is incredible - hubby and I drove home (40 minute journey) talking about it, talked about it when we arrived home and then woke up talking about it this morning - I just couldn't get it out of my mind. Very rarely does a move affect me this way. If you haven't already, SEE IT!!!! It's a must!

Next on our list is "7 Pounds" starring Will Smith...can't wait for that one either!

Wedding Belles

On Saturday 13 December, Iain (my brother in law) and Julie got married, on the beach at Ohope. What a beautiful day it was - here's the pic to prove it (candid snap - the official photographer was nowhere to be found, so this really is a special photo!). In fact, it's my favourite photo of the day.
The sun was shining, making it the perfect day for a wedding (the slight breeze just cooled things down nicely!). Georgia was their flowergirl, and she looked so beautiful!
Cammie spent the whole day taking photos (once the batteries on "his" digicam ran out, he then spent the day trying to get as many of the disposable camera's off the table as possible...guess what Santa SHOULD have gotten him for Christmas...?!).

I was so proud too - I made the jewellery for Julie, her bridesmaid Sharyn and for Georgia (as well as Georgia's flowergirl's basket). Just as an aside :)

I've been writing out Christmas cards tonight - my apologies if yours is late, it's been frantic here!

If I don't get to sign in beforehand, Merry Christmas everyone :)
